The Gee Line

      England, Canada and United States

             Crystal Chandelier

The Gee brothers Jeremiah and William came to Canada in 1847 on the Ship Westminster. With them on this voyage was William's wife  Ann Markham Gee and children David, Alfred and Martha. Jeremiah's journey ended in Dorchester, Middlesex County, Upper Canada. Now known as the province of Ontario. Jeremiah purchased property in the town of Mossley, where we found other related families living, Demaray, Vinning, Holben, and Plaxton. Jeremiah married Dorothy Plaxton daughter of John and Elizabeth Plaxton.
Jeremiah died in 1857, leaving three young boys. In 1859 his wife Dorothy  married James Holben and had 9 more children.
William and Ann settled in Dorchester also. They remained there until  the spring of 1869 when they came by train to Mondamin, Harrison  County, Iowa. They stayed with friends Patrick Morrow family who also had lived in Canada. The Gees lived on a farm outside of Little Sioux for the rest of their married lives. After the death of her husband Ann lived in Mondamin with her grown children. The Gee's are both buried at Little Sioux, Iowa.
